|Hudson's Discount Furniture Company has been in business since 1917 when my grandfather Jones Ednie Hudson opened a general merchandise store in Connelly Springs where he also worked for the railroad as a telegraph operator. When my dad, Jones Ed Hudson Jr.(Ed Jr.) returned from service in WWII and finished Davidson College he helped my granddad with his business. In 1952 they bought a building in nearby downtown Hickory, NC to set up as just a furniture and appliance store. My Mom and Dad shortly thereafter moved to Hickory where we have been ever since. In 1957 Dad incorporated the business as J.E. Hudson Furniture Inc. We are still family owned and operated by Jones "Edney" Hudson III.|| |
